The Setai is an 80 key hotel and 40 story residential tower originally designed for GHM and located on the beachfront at 20th Street and Collins Avenue. IPC provided the landscape design for the hotel. Additionally, we sourced and oversaw the installation of mature trees for the hotel’s south street side, the water feature outside the hotel lounge, and the three pools on the oceanside.
The design objective was to create outdoor entertainment areas that would take advantage of the open air space while facilitating a more intimate and private experience. Particularly challenging was the scale of the 40-story building on the beach frontage. IPC installed 40-foot tall palms throughout to help integrate the buildings into the multi-pool area and the seascape. All off-street installations were done with a large crane. The hotel opened in 2004.
